Open Source Summit Europe 2017 took place from October 23rd to October 26th at the Hilton Hotel Prague. It was the first Open Source Summit in Europe since LinuxCon, CloudOpen and ContainerConf were merged to form this joint event. The number of visitors alone, with about 4000 people, was significantly higher than in 2016 at LinuxCon in Berlin.

There were a lot of exciting lectures, among others by Jim Zemlin (Linux Foundation), Shane Coughlan (OpenChain) and Sarah Novotny (Google Cloud Platform). Linus Torvalds took part in a keynote speech with Dirk Hohndel (VMWare) and was available for technical questions from the community afterwards.

At our booth we had a lot of interesting conversations and presented our recently released PostgreSQL standalone appliance "Elephant Shed".

The evening event "All Attendee Reception" took place in the Municipal House, the historic Prague town hall. Rarely has there been such an impressive venue. Here, too, we met many interesting people and had a lot of conversations.

We like the concept of the joint Open Source Summit very much. The event is even more fun and brings together many people with different backgrounds.

Now we are looking forward to Open Source Summit Europe 2018 in Edinburgh!
